  • Working with Families Certificate

    Description

    This course focuses on families and the way in which early childhood educators create partnerships with families. This course fulfils the requirement for the infant toddler and special needs educator program

    Objectives

    • To assist students to understand various family structures and to appreciate the importance of partnerships.
    • To provide the student with an understanding of family centered practice.
    • To assist students to develop the communication skills necessary to work with families in a child care setting.

  • Centre Administration Certificate

    Description

    This course focuses on the roles and responsibilities of administering an early childhood program. This course fulfills the requirement for the infant toddler and special needs educator program

    Objectives

    • To provide the student with an understanding of quality child care.
    • To assist students to develop the administrative skills necessary to operate an early childhood program.
    • To develop the student's skill in designing curriculum and creating an appropriate environment for young children.
    • To assist students to develop skills to supervise staff in a child care centre and work with families and the community.

  • Working with Infants and Toddlers Part I Certificate

    Description

    Working with Infants and Toddlers Part I focuses on curriculum, development and safety of children under age three. Students will reflect on their relationships with families, with infants and toddlers, with other adults in the child care setting and with the community. The course requires students to bring their own experiences to their writing, to be reflective in their thinking and to be open to growth and change.

    Objectives

    • To plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate programs and routines that nurture and meet the observed needs of infants and toddlers
    • To plan indoor and outdoor play environments that meet the developmental needs of infants and toddlers and ensures their health, safety and well-being
    • To develop positive approaches for guiding, caring and interacting with infants and toddlers
    • To facilitate learning in young children through play and curriculum
    • To learn through reflection on personal experiences

  • Working with Infants and Toddlers Part II Certificate

    Description

    Working with Infants and Toddlers Part II is made up of two sections. The first part focuses on Health, Safety and Nutrition for children under age three. The second part focuses on quality care for infants and toddlers with an emphasis on relationships. Students will reflect on their relationships with families, with infants and toddlers, with other adults in the child care setting and with the community. The course requires students to bring their own experiences to their writing, to be reflective in their thinking and to be open to growth and change.

    Objectives

    • To build on the objectives of Working with Infants and Toddlers Part I
    • To develop knowledge of nutrition for children under three
    • To emphasize quality care for infants and toddlers with respect to relationships with families, with infants and toddlers, with the other adults in the child care setting, and with the community
